Specia ry
Specia – The Experts and Managerial Professionals Association is a trade association for multitalented professionals. We carry out multidisciplinary advocacy in the public, private and third sectors. Together, we create a sustainable and equitable working life where experts and supervisors can confidently follow career paths that reflect their own identity.
We are part of a broad advocacy community
With almost 7000 members, Specia ry is the largest member organisation of Akava Special Branches and part of Akava, the trade union confederation for higher education graduates. We advocate for our members in cooperation with Akava Special Branches, the public sector trade union JUKO and the private sector trade union YTN. Unemployment benefits for our members are provided by the unemployment fund OTE.
In addition to labour market advocacy, Akava Special Branches offers its members legal and employment advice, career services and a wide range of membership benefits.
Our cooperation and networks are strong – our members are actively involved in the advisory boards and committees of the advocacy community, which are responsible for coordinating advocacy in different sectors.

- Our advocacy work aims to build a fair and sustainable working life. We actively seek out places to make a difference and facilitate channels and encounters so that our members can also find a meaningful way to influence the direction of the working life.
- We are a valued member and partner of the advocacy community. We are helping to create a new kind of trade union movement, where working life develops through cooperation and negotiation. We are known as a trade union with a strong values-based approach.
- We differentiate ourselves from our competitors with a positive attitude and by taking a bold stand for a more humane working life. We invest in measures to make Specia known and to recognise the potential of multiskilled people in working life.
- High quality member service is a matter close to our hearts. Our satisfied members are increasingly recommending membership. We are developing the member experience and the member service pathway to better meet the needs of multiskilled workers in a changing world of work.
