Decision-making and influencing
The influence of a trade union is only as strong as its membership. Simply being a member makes a difference and helps promote fair salary development and working conditions that support well-being.
As a member, you have a voice
Membership is a stand for a more sustainable and humane working life, and simply by becoming a member you strengthen our advocacy work to improve working conditions for you and others in your sector. If you wish, you can also take on the role of an active contributor. You can participate in the association’s meetings and raise the need for change or get involved in the board. Specia members also have access to Akava Special Branches’ advisory boards and committees, which coordinate the advocacy work.
The supreme decision-making power of Specia lies with the association’s general assembly, where all members have the right to vote. Meetings of the association are held annually in March-April and October-November. The spring and autumn meetings are accompanied by presentations on topical issues. It is also possible to attend the meetings remotely.
Activities of the board
The board of the association is elected at the association’s autumn meeting. The board consists of a chairman elected for a two-year term, nine board members and four deputy members. The term of office of the full members of the board is two years and that of the deputy members one year. We look for new participants every autumn, so if you’re interested, follow our communications and apply to get involved.
The board meets approximately eight times a year, and the term of office is a calendar year. Meetings are held flexibly in hybrid or remote format.
